Raspberry Protein Muffins

Hi All! I recently got inspired by a recipe in Oxygen Magazine’s Beach Body edition…I saw this recipe for blueberry breakfast muffins, and I thought I’d try to add some more protein, so here was my first attempt. My hubby gives this recipe two thumbs up! These little muffins are nutritious, delicious, and kept me satisfied for hours…and that’s saying something, because usually, I need a snack between breakfast and lunch.

Let me know if you tried this recipe, and how you liked it!

What’s your favorite breakfast recipe?

4 Ways I Keep Fit While Traveling

Hey There!
Today, we’re going to be talking about how you can stay fit while traveling! Ok, holidays are coming up soon. And a lot of individuals allow their health and fitness routines to pretty much…well, crumble to pieces. Oh, and I was asked to write on this topic by Vegas.com . Look for more posts on Twitter under #TravelFit2014. They’re so reliant on using machines at the gym that they don’t know what to do if they in a place that doesn’t use equipment that they’re used to or their travel dates cause them to miss their gym dates that weeks. I used to run into the same issue, but I’ve since changed up my approach to fitness in such a way that I can pretty much get in a workout any time any where, and I’m not stressing over how to do it, without spending an arm and a leg!

1. Be flexible. Let your routine change a little, and don’t freak out. Know you may have to squeeze in a half hour of bodyweight moves instead of your usual 2 hour gym stint, but let’s face it, the change of pace will keep your body from plateauing, in fact, you may even get some results if you don’t go overboard with your diet.

2. Take advantage of your surroundings. Walk don’t drive. Take the stairs. Go for a hike. Use the hotel pool/gym area. Make sure you’re in a safe area though. If you’re somewhere like Vegas, try the Hotel Hike at the Area Las Vegas. See the sights and get a workout. The resort even loans you a bag with handweights, a water bottle, and a yoga mat!

3. Pack travel-friendly tools. I love to carry my resistance bands with me when I travel. I also take my PiYo or 21 Day Fix dvd’s with me because all I need is body weight and/or resistance bands. I also like to print off the workouts from Workout Labs and Ace Fitness if I don’t have access to a tv and dvd player.

4. Pack protein powder. I carry my Blender bottle and Shakeology (or protein powder) with me every where. This actually saves me money, and I don’t end up eating icky fast food. I also buy bags of mini peppers, bananas, and almonds and eat them as snacks.

These are some suggestions that I use to stay fit while traveling. I find that if I stay in some sort of routine, it’s not a struggle when I return home. Get creative and think outside of the box. The best fitness regimen is a maintainable fitness regimen.

Happy Travels!

Wonderful Wednesday: 2 Clean Cool Treats Workout Milestone!

Hi Everyone!
I hope you’ve had a wonderful Memorial Day! This is a special holiday for us, as Micah and both have family members who a veterans and on active duty. Freedom is not free. Thanks to all our troops who fought so I could have the freedom to write.
It was another action-packed weekend, and I can’t wait to head to the BB Challenge Group training in Atlanta this weekend to see some dear friends, and stay with Micah’s wonderful sister, Sarah. I’m super excited!!!!I can’t wait to come back with tools to better help my challengers and to help inspire more people to get healthy!
Did anyone notice that all of the sudden, we went from winter to summer here in NC? Well, I’ve made it my mission to come up with some healthy alternatives to frozen yogurt and ice cream. I think you’re going to LOVE these treats, I mean, their nice and cool, and they don’t taste like “clean” treats! 😉

Oh, and break a sweat today! Not, that’s it’s difficult to do in this weather…hehe. Try four 1 minute rounds of the cardio move in the picture. If you’re a beginner, step instead of hop, and stick your hips back. See if you can move for 5 rounds. I dare ya.
Have a blessed Wednesday!

Adventurous Weekend and A Giveaway!

Hi There! It’s been a whirlwind Easter weekend! Micah and I headed to SC on Friday to celebrate my brother’s birthday! We had lots of fun! We even went to this great indoor rock wall climbing center that friends of ours own, called Climb Upstate! Click here for their FB page: Climb Upstate.

I would have never attempted bouldering a few weeks ago! Bouldering is climbing without a harness…you only use a crash pad at the bottom of the route. This was huge for me, since I’m not a huge heights person, but by the end of our time there, I started to get the hang of….pun intended – of how to use my body weight in a different way! I will definitely be making Australian pull-up bars from PVC pipe. 🙂 Had I not done so much upper body training recently, I would have fallen on my tush…plyometrics help too. Bouldering is empowering, and I can’t wait to try it again! This pic is of me half-way up a vertical climb!

I’m so excited about this week! I’m doing my first test group for a 7-day Sugar Shake Off! It’s a challenge where we’ll be replacing 1 meal a day with Shakeology, and doing at least 15 minutes of physical activity every day! I like to use vegan chocolate in a blender with avocado or a nut butter and almond milk. The Shakeology in the giveaway has whey in it, just to make you aware of the protein source. I’ve been on this meal replacement for 60 days, and have noticed a major difference in the health of my skin, and my energy levels and my muscle tone, so I decided to share it with you! Someone will win 3 packets of shakeology this week, 1 vanilla, 1 strawberry, and 1 chocolate. This stuff makes my tummy happy too, and has alleviated my IBS symptoms. I’m not a doctor, so make sure you check with your healthcare practitioner before you take shakeology. Anyway, sharing is caring, so here I am! What is your favorite smoothie recipe? I’m always looking for new ideas, and I’d love to share mine with you!

Here’s my favorite! You can use any chocolate protein powder you like! 🙂

Thanks as always for listening! Tell me what your favorite smoothie recipe is! 🙂
